About

In the SAFe framework, product managers are a crucial part of the leadership team that also includes architects and Release Train Engineers. Together, they collaborate to guide Agile Release Trains (ARTs) towards the ongoing delivery of value.

During the three-day Agile Product Management (APM) training you will develop the mindset, skills and gain knowledge of appropriate methods to design new products using Design Thinking. During the training, we’ll go into:

  • Product Managers’ role in a Lean Enterprise

  • Continuous exploration of the market and customers

  • Strategic market segmentation

  • The role of empathy in design

  • Defining a vision and strategy

  • Developing solution-oriented roadmaps

  • Knowledge of Value Stream Economics

Certification

APM Exam & Certification

The Agile Product Management (APM) training is a three-day course (8:30 am - 5:30 p.m., including lunch) by one or more SAFe Practice Consultant Trainers (SPCTs). All our consultants are also active in the field themselves and have a lot of experience with implementing SAFe within large organizations.

After the training and passing of the exam, you will be a certified SAFe Agile Product Manager. You will receive:

  • Official SAFe® Product Management (APM) certificate

  • Digital badge of the certificate (to share and promote online)

  • User guide for the SAFe APM certificate (including certification marks)

  • Access to a wide range of learning resources to support certified professionals during their SAFe journey

Exam details

  • Exam name: SAFe Product Management

  • Language: English

  • Format: Multiple choice

  • Exam delivery: Web-based (single-browser), closed book

  • Duration: 120 minutes

  • Number of questions: 60 questions

  • Passing score: 45 out of 60 questions correct (75% score)

  • Exam cost: The cost of the official exam is included and the exam must be completed within 30 days of training

  • Retake policy: Didn't pass the exam the first time? Nothing to worry about. It’s possible to do a first retake immediately after the initial exam. The second retake requires a 10-day wait, a third attempt can be held 30 days later. Each retake costs $50. Please contact support@scaledagile.com for questions regarding the retake policy

Did you pass the exam? Then your profile will be updated immediately by the Scaled Agile Academy. From then on, you will have access to the private, online community and the possibility to make your profile public within the Scaled Agile community.

Professional Development Units (PDUs) and Scrum Training Units (SEUs)

Once you have participated in this course, you may be eligible to apply for 15 continuing education PDUs from the Project Management Institute (PMI) for PMP and PMI-ACP certifications. You may also be eligible to apply for SEUs under Category C to earn or renew your CSP through Scrum Alliance.

Prerequisites

Anyone can participate in this course. We do recommend that participants are familiar with the principles of Agile (and know how to apply them) and have taken at least one other SAFe course. Also, a background in product or solution management is recommended.
