AI-empowered SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)

Large-scale change requires strong leadership, coordination, and collaboration across all stakeholders. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) oversees the ART and is responsible for managing and orchestrating value delivery across teams.

Modern RTEs increasingly operate in AI-driven environments where intelligent tools support risk management, facilitation, and large-scale alignment.

During our three-day Release Train Engineer training, you will learn to:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of an RTE

• Facilitate end-to-end value delivery through ARTs and value streams

• Plan and execute Planning Intervals (PIs)

• Build high-performing ARTs through servant leadership and coaching

• Develop a plan to continue your learning journey

• Applying AI techniques to support risk identification and root cause analysis
• Using AI tools to improve cross-team coordination and collaboration
• Leveraging AI-assisted insights to support ART event preparation and facilitation
• Applying responsible AI practices to ensure secure and ethical usage within large Agile environments

This training aligns with Scaled Agile’s newest SAFe® Skills guidance on integrating AI into Release Train Engineer responsibilities, helping professionals enhance enterprise coordination without replacing essential human leadership.

This three-day Release Train Engineer course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in the SAFe enterprise. You will learn how to facilitate and enable end-to-end value delivery through ARTs and value streams.

You will also learn how to build a high-performing ART by becoming a servant leader and coach, and how to plan and execute a Program Increment (PI) planning event, the primary enabler of alignment throughout all levels of a SAFe organization. After taking the SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) exam, you’ll certify as a SAFe 6.0 Release Train Engineer.

Professional Development Units (PDUs) and Scrum Education Units (SEUs)

Once you have participated in this course, you may be eligible to apply for 15 continuing education PDUs from the Project Management Institute (PMI) for PMP and PMI-ACP certifications. You may also be eligible to apply for SEUs under Category C to earn or renew your CSP through Scrum Alliance.

The training is ideal for experienced Scrum Masters who are ready to take the next step. Of course, you also have to be motivated to become an RTE. Do you already work as a RTE? In that case you can use our training to sharpen your skills and gain a deeper understanding of its methods and ideas.

Prerequisites

Anyone may participate in this training, regardless of role or experience. Do you also want to take the RTE exam? You are required to have (minimum):

• One valid SAFe certificate

• One ART launch

• Participated/Facilitated one PI Planning
