During this two-day training (9 a.m. - 5 p.m., including lunch), you'll discover what your role as Scrum Master entails with respect to people coaching and in the context of a large organization. Through interactive sessions, including role play exercises for coaching techniques, you will learn:
- Significance of Scrum in a SAFe environment
- Facilitating Scrum (events) throughout the organization
- Main Agile components of scaled product development
- Setting up and guiding Agile teams (through ‘servant leading’)
- Coaching skills for more constructive interactions withing the team and to maximize results at scale
- Planning & execution of the Planning Interval (PI)
- Effective execution of Iteration Planning
I thought the course was excellent. It was clear that the presenter took the time to evaluate the level of experience in the room and focused the delivery accordingly.

SSM exam & certificate
After completing the training and passing the exam, you will be a certified SAFe Scrum Master (SSM). This comes with:
- Official SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) certificate
- Digital badge of the certificate (to share & promote online)
- One-year certified membership as a SAFe Scrum Master, giving you access to the SSM Community of Practice
- Access to various learning resources to support certified professionals during their SAFe journey
The Scaled Agile Academy will update your profile as soon as you pass the exam. From then onwards, you will have access to the private, online community and the possibility to make your profile public within the Scaled Agile community. Until that moment, only you have the privilege to see your certification.

Exam access: candidates will have access to the exam on the SAFe Community Platform upon completion of the SAFe Scrum Master training.
Duration: Candidates have 30 days from the completion of the training to answer all questions and submit the exam.

Passing score: 33 out of 45 (73%)
Costs: The fee of the official first exam is included and must be completed within 30 days of the training.
