About

The AI Native Foundation Training is designed for in-house lawyers and legal counsel who want to take their first steps towards using AI in a practical and responsible way. You will not only learn what AI is and which developments are relevant to your work, but above all how you can use AI to work smarter, faster and more consistently.

Before the training days, you complete approximately four hours of online self-study covering the AI Native Foundation theory. Topics include generative AI, machine learning, automation, AI trends, prompting, data, governance, privacy and responsible AI use. During the training, you can ask questions about the theory, and the trainer will explain which knowledge is important for the AI Native Foundation exam.

Because most of the theory is covered in advance, the two training days offer more room for practical application. You will practise prompting, work with concrete legal use cases and learn how AI can be integrated into your own way of working. You will also work alongside other legal professionals, allowing you to learn not only from the trainers but also from experiences and applications within the same professional field.

Programme

Before the training: AI Native Foundation self-study

Before the training, you complete approximately four hours of online self-study covering the AI Native Foundation theory. This allows the two training days to focus as much as possible on practical application.

The self-study covers topics including:

  • What it means to work as an AI-native professional and organisation
  • Generative AI, machine learning and automation
  • AI trends and their impact on work, teams and organisations
  • AI mindset: moving from individual tools to integrated application
  • Prompt structures and frameworks
  • Roles, context, constraints and iteration in prompts
  • AI for analysis, creation and communication
  • Identifying and assessing relevant AI use cases
  • The AI Use Case Canvas: from problem and data to a potential AI solution
  • Data quality, data flows and governance
  • Privacy and ethics, including GDPR, bias, transparency and risks
  • Integrating AI into existing processes
  • Workflow automation using no-code and low-code applications
  • Human-AI collaboration and the necessary checks and controls

During the training days, there is time to ask questions about the theory. The trainer will also clearly explain which topics you need to know and understand for the AI Native Foundation exam.

Practical day 1: Review work and legal writing

The first practical training day focuses on prompting and applying AI to recognisable legal tasks. You will practise with applications including:

  • Contract review based on your own playbook
  • NDA triage
  • Redlining
  • Data processing agreements
  • Legal memos that are clear and useful for senior management

You will work with different prompts and ways of working, assess the results and exchange experiences with other in-house lawyers and legal professionals in the group.

Practical day 2: From your own case to a way of working that lasts

On the second practical training day, you continue working with your own legal case and develop it into a way of working that you can continue using after the training. You will further practise prompting and learn how AI and agents can support different steps within your work.

An important part of the day is deciding which work you do want AI to support and which work you deliberately do not want to hand over. You translate what you have learned into your own practice and finish the training with practical prompts and ways of working that you can use immediately, as well as a personal 30-60-90 day plan.
