“The two trainers seamlessly merge into one inspiring presence.”

All the marketing in the world can’t beat a glowing, motivated customer review. But the e-mail we received from recent Implementing SAFe 4.5 (SPC) student Jameer Syed wasn’t just an opportunity for our trainers Anand Murthy Raj and Sathya H.R. to gloat – it’s also an opportunity for us to learn what inspires you the most.

“Anand & Sathya,
I would like to THANK YOU both for facilitating a great session with so much passion, which I believe helped all of us to achieve the GOAL of the training. The patience and focus you have shown with each participant were praiseworthy. We luckily had a great TEAM that attended this training, full of interest and thirst to take their learnings to higher levels.”

So writes Jameer Syed of HCL Technologies in Chennai, last July 30th .

As the smiles slowly crept across our faces, we set out to get in touch with this satisfied student to find out what had brought him to his glowing remarks. Jameer was happy to provide further comment:

Smooth transitions

“A lethal duo, so to speak. It was a joy to watch Anand and Sathya perform together. They are obviously well-attuned to each other: the transition from one to the other went so smooth it was entirely unnoticeable at times. They seemingly effortlessly keep up the momentum and our fascination.”

In four days, we were swiftly made comfortable with what it means to bring SAFe to the competitive arena of any major commercial organisation. The nuts and bolts of continuous delivery, the leveraging of a Lean portfolio… it just made a lot of sense and their vivid narration allowed me to really picture it before me. The metaphor of a pitstop race car, serviced in split-second timing as it is, or the way the Indian army worked together in the Kargil war… these are powerful images, too.”

More than just ‘show-and-tell’

Curious as to the origins of this remarkable team play, we asked both Anand and Sathya to come in for comment. “I’ve enjoyed working with Sathya since we started out four years ago,” Anand said, “And I’m glad it shows through in what we do.”

Sathya too was visibly pleased with the gushing compliment. “Anand and I go through our intended training meticulously, poring over the various modules we can choose from. We’re both experienced consultant-trainers with years of stories and anecdotes to draw from, but we can’t be satisfied with just a show-and-tell. We aim for our narratives to stay coherent throughout the sessions, so one examples tie into each other as much as possible.”

Strengthened resolve

As Gladwell Academy, such comments from our participants serve as justification of our chosen course in bringing SAFe to our Indian audience. We’re happy to see the concept of joint trainerships pays off the way it does, and it strengthens our resolve to bring a well-oiled team to every session.

As for Jameer, he’s well on his way to become a fully-accredited SPC. As he finishes his message:

“I will soon get in touch with you after completing the certification.” No doubt you are, Jameer!
